Walden looks for opportunities to represent client views in forums for public policy that strengthen social investing and corporate responsibility. Examples
of involvement include:
- Leading and participating in educational
efforts through seminars, events and public meetings.
-
Testifying before government
hearings or meeting with government entities.
-
Submitting formal petitions to government bodies such as the Securities and Exchange
Commission and the New York Stock Exchange.
Walden has a rich history of providing expert testimony on matters of public
policy on a wide variety of topics, including judicial and regulatory issues related to mercury pollution, tobacco divestment,
indigenous people's rights, South Africa divestment, pension fund
regulations, Securities and Exchange Commission regulations, and corporate
governance reforms. Walden was the only investment manager to give testimony before the Federal Glass Ceiling Commission.
We have assisted
non-governmental organizations such
as the Tobacco Divestment Project, RUGMARK, Grassroots Recycling Network, and United for a Fair Economy. We are an
active member of and contributor to Ceres, a
coalition of major environmental organizations and socially responsive investors
promoting an environmental code of corporate behavior. Walden is also an active associate of the Interfaith Center for Corporate Responsibility.
